Infinite Experiment

Like the moon on new-fallen snow and the vision of conch shells dancing on my head, simultaneous expansive and intimate experiences are the bind between a confetti of subjects, ideas and mediums. A look can accentuate a feeling seducing the eye until the tension bubbles into a beautiful duress. Evoking this on a monumental scale is the Mark Bradford exhibition at Hauser & Wirth. Each piece layered with physical and conceptual rigor and set into cellular relief  is part of a deep and sentiment emotional landscape of experiences. In the spirit of art and fashion pushed to the extreme, Iris van Herpen forced contradictions between beauty and regeneration beam a polymorphic silhouette into space. Material innovation of a 3D hand woven textile threaded and fringed with a raw edge drops into synch with Bradford’s lush Waterfall of canvas and twine.

Bursting too with intuitive expression, is Mary Heilmann Geometrics: Waves, Roads, Etc. an exhibition of new works at 303 Gallery. Heilmann’s vibrant assortment of paintings, ceramics and furniture sculptures form an open ended puzzle of abstraction. Buzzing with energy and dialogue, the pieces contain an optical power that is specific yet infinite. Embarking on this horizon I arrive at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi feelings of punk folklore. A sharp silhouette punctuated with the pop colors of another world.

Fashion for me is an artistic pursuit, an exciting and necessary form of self-expression. A chance to create a dialogue with someone or something. An endless resource for my experimentation all looks were curated from Farfetch. A longtime favorite of mine and a platform for emerging and established designers from all over the world. A holiday challenge to bring together forms, textures and colors and create something new and unexpected, add pizzaz and value to the party, to the world.
