If Erik Parker’s studio was a submarine through this periscope we see his world. Fetishized landscapes dripping in day glo melt away into staccato pyramids snap filled with information. Works that suggest our voracious appetite for more, our ability to get submerged and then bob up to the surface again characterize his exhibition, Undertow at Paul Kasmin Gallery. Parker’s use of color is hypnotic as are the command of his shaped canvases. The ever connected disconnect of our human condition, happily chained in the fluorescence and original beat of Libertine. The gift of synthesis within a smattering of references drifts this open ended story complete.
